I KNOW It’s Only July! Jul 27

BUT… Everything I think about is already fall oriented, and fall doesn’t unofficially start until August 22nd (when school starts) and not officially until September 23rd!

There are 3 reasons that I can think of for my strange thought pattern, and the first is that I LOVE fall baking and colors. There are more apple pies and dipped apples and even dips for apples (such as Caramel and Pumpkin) and I can’t forget our family and friends favorite fall crack, Sparkling Candy Corn Cookies. Clothing and decorations come in fantastic colors like golden yellow, orange, rust, copper, and brown. And the final reason? DD2 will arrive just before Halloween, the official start to my happy season, which ends after DD1’s birthday in January.

Because of my love for the season, and to keep DD1 from “missing out” while I take care of DD2, I’m trying to get everything Halloween and partially Thanksgiving oriented taken care of NOW. I don’t want to have to try and think through the newborn fog that will cloud my mind, I want everything as much in order as I can possibly make it. It will make life easier on all of us. Also, the more I can get completed now, the more me activities I can squeeze in while DD1 is in school. I doubt I’ll have much time for me activities once DD2 arrives, and I’m ok with that. It’s part of the mommy territory. I just wish the fog wasn’t happening in the midst of my favorite season…

5QF Jul 21

I’m using 5 Question Friday with Mama M as my 5 minutes of relaxing time before I go back to frantically packing up the odds and ends lying around the house before our new carpet installation tomorrow morning. Yes, that sentence is indicative of my current state of mind.

On to the show…

1. If your husband had the BIG V and you got pregnant what would your first reaction be? For the dudes, what would your first reaction be if your wife told you she was pregnant after the Big V?
Oh, Lord, isn’t that why we had this done? Isn’t that just our luck? And then I’d start wishing and dreaming for another girl. And learn to chart. šŸ˜‰

2. Best memory about this summer so far.
Our weekend at Disney last month. I’m still SO PROUD of my daughter. šŸ˜€

3. How often do you change your sheets? Your kids sheets?
Our sheets gets changed roughly every other week. My daughter’s sheets get changed at least twice per week because occasionally she can still pee through her diaper.

4. Having just gone through TSA, would you rather have a full-body scan or a pat-down?
Scan. You can look, but don’t touch!

5. Since it is fair time…what’s your favorite fair (county or state) memory?
This might sound odd, but I don’t live near a fair. The Central Florida Fair would be a 45 minute drive if it were going on, and after going to the Ohio State Fair when I was real young, none of the other “fairs” put on at the schools really rate. I do, however, love fresh made cotton candy. So, that’s my memory, fresh made cotton candy.

26 Weeks Jul 17

Things have been busy around here for such a laid back summer. I still intend to post my thoughts on our stay at Animal Kindgdom Lodge and some notes about visiting Disney World with a toddler, but it’s taking me far longer than I expected. Oh well, useful information is always welcome in the blogosphere. šŸ˜‰

We also decided to replace the carpet in our house, so we essentially have to move out while it’s done. It’s a ton of work and being pregnant makes the job harder, but I’m excited to get rid of the nasty carpet we have and hopefully have something that will last and clean well.

Also, the toddler has done a bit of regressing as she hit the 2.5 year mark and we spend a lot of time snuggled on the couch with stuffed animals and books. I LOVE the snuggle time, but I hate the lack of things getting done as a result. It’s even more annoying when my to-do list each day is so small, but things aren’t getting checked off. Oh well, it will eventually get taken care of, I have faith.

On to the pregnancy update…

*How far along?: 26 weeks today

*Total weight gain: About 13 pounds

*How big is baby?: The size of an eggplant, 12-14 inches and 16-20oz

*Sleep?: Very inconsistent. Some nights I sleep 8 hours fine, others I’m awake every 3 for one reason or another. Still getting sleep though, and that’s what’s important!

*Best moment this week?: Normal checkups for both my daughter and I. We’re both growing well. šŸ˜‰ It’s always a relief and a little stroke to the ego when a professional confirms that things are going right!

*Movement?: Lately it’s been a constant dance party. She’s quiet first thing in the morning, but after that she seems to move all day long.

*Food cravings?: The cravings seem to have disappeared. Now I’m hungry all the time.

*Stretchmarks?: Nothing new šŸ˜‰

*Labor signs?: Negatory

*Belly button in or out?: Still in!

*What I miss: Mobility. It’s getting harder and harder to play with my daughter because I simply can’t move like she wants me to.

*Complaints: Nothing big, I’m just a lil whiny about the general downside of pregnancy. Back pain, fatigue, not being able to pick up and carry my daughter as often as she’d like.

*What I’m looking forward to: The less cluttered feel of the whole house after the new carpet gets installed. I really hope we can optimize our (lack of) organization so we can all feel less stressed about the mess.

*Nursery Progress: None this week, but with luck their room will look totally different once it’s put back together next weekend. Cross your fingers!

*What items do you still need to buy for baby?: Still everything. Once the carpet’s done and the new crib is assembled I’ll start working on the smaller stuff. Oh, and I need to double check that our car seat is still in date. If it is, we can handle anything as long as we have a crib and a car seat! šŸ™‚
