An Update May 05

As a few of you have noticed, I’ve been absent from the blog. I announced a few weeks ago that I was pregnant and then got caught up in the Ultimate Blog Party festivities. After that, I disappeared.

I wish I could regale you with tales from world travels or fabulous craft or cooking projects that I was doing, but I can’t. The first trimester of this pregnancy kept me in my recliner either pleading for the nausea and heartburn to go away or sleeping because I was simply unable to keep my eyes open. It took everything I had just to get my daughter and I dressed, fed, and out to whatever activity she wanted to do for the day.

I am now 15 weeks along, and luckily I’m starting to feel more like myself again. Or, as much like myself as I’ll be feeling over these next transitional months. I can finally eat and, while still tired, I’m functional again. With some help from the husband, we might even find the kitchen underneath the piles of junk mail, snack wrappers, empty Diet Coke cans and water bottles that have taken over. Hopefully the living room can be found underneath the sea of toys as well. I have hope, as well as a pseudo birthday party on Saturday night and Mother’s Day lunch to help me push through.

Which leads me to my good news! My birthday was this past Monday and my husband’s is coming up on Sunday. I’m claiming this past weekend’s camping trip to Faver-Dykes State Park and St. Augustine as part of the birthday festivities, although the date was purely coincidental. That, followed by a small celebration Monday night with a giant red velvet cupcake and an even smaller celebration Tuesday night are really helping to maintain the party atmosphere throughout the week. I’ve always claimed as many days as possible to celebrate my birthday, and starting with our first cruise back in 2003, the husband and I have tried to link our birthdays together for the ultimate celebration. We haven’t done as well since our daughter was born as in previous years, but I’m really hoping to turn that around next year when we celebrate a milestone. 😉

So there it is, that’s what I’ve been up to. Thank you to the few of you who have stuck around while I’ve been away. I’m hoping to update more frequently again now that the first trimester is behind me, we’re in the midst of birthday celebrations, and my first homegrown tomato is about to be ripe enough to eat!

Yay! Congrats on your pregnancy! I think I missed your first announcement. 🙂 I’m 19 weeks along now… we find out the gender tomorrow. Eeep! Can’t wait!! I have a couple of pregnancy/baby-related giveaways on my blog this week if you’re interested. (It’s to celebrate my bloggy birthday – hee hee.) Glad you’re feeling more like yourself now and a big happy Mothers Day to you too!!

Finding out the gender is so exciting! I can’t wait for my turn, but it’ll be somewhere around the 19wk mark as well. 🙂
